The Super Bowl is the largest single sports event in the world. In 2019, the final of the Vince Lombardi Trophy will take place on Sunday, February 3, at the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The Super Bowl is available from 22:45 live on TV and as livestream on the internet.

An online petition called for a performance of Spongebob Squarepants at Super Bowl 53 in Atlanta. During the halftime show, the Spongebob song “Sweet Victory” will be performed to honor the deceased squid-creator Stephen Hillenburg. The cartoonist had died on 26 November of his ALS disease.

Now the appearance of the yellow sponge is apparently confirmed. A picture of sideline reporter Angela Moryan shows Spongebob Squarepants on the video screen of the Mercedes-Benz Stadium just as Maroon 5 practiced there for their halftime show.

Rodgers Bumpass, voice actor of Thaddaeus Tentakel, another character from Spongebob Squarepants, has already confirmed that he has made an appearance at the Super Bowl.

The song “Sweet Victory” comes from the second season of the popular children’s series and is featured in the episode “Listen, who’s playing” during a cup final of the characters in the series.

A few days before the Super Bowl, a pending winter break makes the capital of Georgia tremble. “ESPN” reports that more than 100 flights have been canceled as a precaution by airlines due to weather conditions.
